The Location Of Coruscant The Hyperspeed model detailed here opens some questions regarding the location of Coruscant. For many years I have been somewhat annoyed at the concept of the core worlds being somewhere other than the core of the galaxy. With this new model that becomes much more plausible. Coruscant could be described as being one of the oldest settled worlds that is just outside the actual core of the galaxy to allow 'disc-hopping', and therefore one of the earliest worlds to become a trade nexus. Travel within the core itself would be increasingly slow and difficult the closer you go to the real center of the galaxy. This would also go some way to allow the 'slice' phenomena where the opposite side of the galactic disc from Coruscant is relatively unexplored. I still maintain that in Star Wars the entire galaxy is more or less explored, but this model does allow for a genuine reason for the 'classic' galactic map.
